Symantec posts new Norton AntiVirus version for Leopard      

Symantec today announced an update to Norton AntiVirus for the Mac that brings a new "Vulnerability Protection" feature, improved performance, and a redesigned UI that only a blind kindergartner could love. Interestingly, this new version also adds Terminal support to allow for running scans and using other features via the command line and custom scripts.

Norton Anti Virus makes Mac OS X less secure

StuffIt Expander 10.0.2: Conflict with Norton AntiVirus      

Just thought you'd like to know that at least on my Mac installing the StuffIt Expander 10.0.2 mentioned on Thursday broke both Norton Anti-Virus and iChat connecting to an SSL Jabber server. Installing using the StuffIt Expander link from Allume's web site restored both.

Several months ago it was discovered that it caused conflicts with third-party add-ins, such as WinFax and Adobe PDFMaker, in both Word and Excel. The Plug-in would cause the applications to crash upon starting or exiting depending on the add-in.

CNET 2007 antivirus performance test scores      

Norton AntiVirus 2007 improved some over last year, but McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007, despite adding a firewall, failed to move up. New this year is Eset NOD32, an excellent application, but one that's best suited for more advanced users. Look for additional reviews for CA Anti-virus 2007 and BitDefender 10 within the next few weeks.
