ISS’ Proventia Network Multi-Function Security appliances include the Proventia M10, M30 and M50 that scale based on the number of protected nodes. The Proventia M10 is ideal for smaller offices with fewer than 100 users; the Proventia M30 has a 500-node capacity suited for mid-size organizations, and the Proventia M50 supports up to 2500 nodes for large enterprises. All models provide the same functionality and only vary in performance.

The Proventia Network Multi-Function Security appliance can either be deployed as a replacement to your existing router or gateway device as well as run inline behind your existing router or gateway. These appliances are perfect for protecting an enterprise's regional or branch offices, such as distribution centers, datacenters, warehouses, etc. where there are limited or no resources locally. They also are appropriate for departments and/or buildings (enterprise campus setting) with separate connections to the Internet, as well as stand-alone small, mid-sized enterprises with a single location.

The Proventia Network Multi-Function Security appliances include firewall, intrusion prevention, VPN, gateway antivirus, Web filter, and antispam. Future models will include additional vulnerability detection and application control.

These appliances utilizes both gateway signature antivirus as well as VPS to protect from all file-based viruses sent through the gateway over SMTP (e-mail), HTTP (downloads and Web mail), POP3 (personal e-mail) and FTP (file downloads), including 100 percent of the WildList. Proventia Network Multi-Function Security appliances protect even those users who have out-of-date or disabled virus software at their desktop. For multi-layered protection, we still recommend a desktop protection solution such as Proventia Desktop to protect against viruses spread internally (introduced by unprotected laptops or on CDs, etc.).

The Proventia Network Multi-Function Security appliances, along with all other Internet Security Systems network, server and desktop protection agents, can be centrally managed with one security management platform Proventia Management SiteProtector. When managing a single appliance, policies are easily defined and administered through a simple, Web-based local management interface, the Proventia Manager. SiteProtector support for the Proventia Network Multi-Function Security appliances is currently available and requires an additional one-time charge per appliance.

The appliance is built on premium Intel equipment with redundant hard drives, cooling and power supplies for continuous operation. If the appliance were to fail, however, it would then be replaced under the Advanced Exchange program that is included with maintenance.
